18 trails have been groomed for today, including Black Snake, Garden Path, Lower Chilcoot, Midway, Smugglers’ Alley, and Meadowlark, for a total of 118 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Today, we plan to have 5 lifts operating: Madonna II, Sterling, Village, Mogul Mouse’s Magic, and Sir Henry’s Glider. We have 32 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 10 to 40 inches. Last night, we made snow on Lower Rumrunner, Birch Run, and Practice Slope. Currently, it is partly sunny and -6 degrees at the summit of Sterling, with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and breezy, with a high of 11 degrees at the base and 6 degrees at higher elevations. Bundle up and enjoy the great conditions. There is a Winter Weather Advisory starting tonight with a foot of new snow, possibly by Wednesday night. We received a dusting of new snow last night, 4 inches in the past 2 days and 23 inches in the past 6 days.

Do you think you’ll be able to open Sam’s Run soon?

We are presently making snow on Lower Rumrunner and Birch Run. We plan to finish up with those trails soon and then our snowmaking focus will be on getting the Madonna 1 Lift open. There is a winter weather advisory starting tonight and going through Thursday with up to 16 inches of new snow possible, so maybe it will open with natural snow. Stay tuned for where we made snow after Madonna Mountain.
