Powder day

We received 8 inches of pretty dense snow overnight. The new snow is just what the doctor ordered! The heavy snow has allowed our Ski Patrol to do some rope dropping. Doc Dempsey’s Glades, Drifter, Ruthie’s, Full Nelson, Upper Pipeline, and Goat Path are now open. We have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 7 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We now have 61 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 30 trails have been groomed for today for a total of 123 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with average base depths of 10 to 36 inches. Currently, it is snowing and 29 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast calls for snow showers with another 2 to 3 inches of accumulation possible and a high of 35 degrees at the base and 31 degrees at higher elevations. We are experiencing a winter storm watch, which will last through Monday night. We could see another 20 inches of new snow by Tuesday! I want to thank everyone for doing their snow dances. Keep dancing, my friends!

I keep calling, but the Snow Reporter is not in his office!
