Top to bottom on all 3 mountains

Currently, it is cloudy and 37 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 15 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for a chance of showers, mainly between 11 am and 2 pm, with a high of 47 degrees at the base and 44 degrees at higher elevations. We have 6 lifts operating today, including the Madonna 1 Lift. We have 67 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 24 trails have been groomed for today, including Chilcoot, Log Jam, and Rumrunner for a total of 109 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and spring conditions with average base depths of 8 to 34 inches. Nice soft conditions on all 3 mountains. I found the best snow today to be manmade. The natural snow trails can be a little sticky today. Wear something waterproof and enjoy the spring conditions.

Women’s and Men’s FIS Slalom

It was amazing to watch these athletes! They started at the top of Snake Bite and finished at the bottom of the Practice Slope. A slalom race is exciting because of the quick turns and crossblocks. These racers were pros at both!

Tomorrow, we plan to have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 76 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 36 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Drifter, Snow Snake, Smugglers’ Alley, and skier’s right on Upper FIS. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable, with average base depths of 12 to 38 inches. Currently, it is sunny and 32 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for sunny skies early with increasing clouds, a high of 45 degrees at the base, and 40 degrees at the summit. It’s going to feel like Spring again.

Another day in paradise

It stopped snowing, and the sun came out. I skied today with a little rat pack filled with friends and family. We started the day on Morse and worked our way over to the upper mountains. On Sterling, it was Harvey’s Hideaway and Full Nelson that were our favorites. For Madonna, everyone enjoyed Upper FIS, Doc Dempsey’s Glades, Bermuda, Mustache, and The Shire. To be honest, you could not go wrong, because everything was good today! The visibility today was fantastic, and the summit of Madonna was the place to be. We hung out at the top of Madonna for a while, soaking up the sunshine and amazing views in every direction. Tomorrow should be a repeat of today with little warmer temperatures. We have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift for tomorrow. We have 75 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 34 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Garden Path, Smugglers’ Alley, and skier’s right on Upper FIS. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 14 to 40 inches. Currently, it is sunny and 17 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with a high of 37 degrees at the base and 32 degrees at higher elevations.

We received 11 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 39 inches in the past week. I had an absolute blast skiing with some family and friends today. We did FIS from the very top next to the warming hut, which does not open very often. Freefall from the top was fantastic this morning and with all the new snow during the day, it was great this afternoon also. Docs, Alley Woods, Moustache Woods, and Madonna Liftline were also big hits today. The conditions are spectacular! We have more snow in the forecast with 2 to 4 inches of accumulation possible tonight. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies, breezy, with a high of 24 degrees at the base and 20 degrees at higher elevations. We have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating.
