Mountains of adventure and mountains of fun

Today was an amazing spring day on the slopes. Upper FIS was groomed full-width last night, and it was fantastic today! A nice, long, smooth, steep pitch covered in corn snow does not disappoint. Everything was skiing and riding great, but Upper FIS was my favorite today. We have one more day of mild temperatures before the snow starts to fly again. There is a winter storm watch starting on Wednesday and going through Thursday night with a foot or more of new snow! Tomorrow, we plan to have 3 lifts operating: Sterling Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider. Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift will open at 9 am. The Madonna I Lift will be closed tomorrow, and we plan to reopen it on Wednesday for the rest of the week. We will have 26 trails open tomorrow with terrain for all ability levels. 22 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Snow Snake, Sam’s Run, Smugglers’ Alley, and Thomke’s Express, for a total of 80 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and spring conditions with average base depths of 6 to 32 inches. It is sunny and 38 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 0 to 5 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is partly sunny skies early with increasing clouds throughout the day, with a high of 50 degrees at the base and 43 degrees at higher elevations. Sunday fun day

Great spring conditions with corduroy in the morning and corn in the afternoon. The clearing clouds allowed the sun to soften the surfaces. Ski Patrol dropped the ropes on Upper Exhibition, Harvey’s Hideaway, Shuttle, Full Nelson, and Jolly Rodger. I would have to say that Snake Bite was my trail pick of the day. The steep pitch with corn snow is pretty hard to beat. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the mild temperatures and blue skies! Tomorrow will bring us more of the same, with partly sunny skies and a high of 43 degrees. We plan to have 4 lifts operating tomorrow: the Sterling Lift, Madonna I Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider. Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift will open at 9 am tomorrow. We have 40 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 33 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley, Snow Snake, and skier’s right on Upper FIS. Surface conditions are machine groomed and spring conditions with average base depths of 8 to 34 inches. It looks like we have snow in the forecast for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday!

Beautiful day on the slopes

It was a little cloudy this morning and then the sun came out. The temperatures rose pretty quickly, especially at lower elevations. Upper FIS was groomed last night on skiers’ right, so I made it my second run of the day. The sun worked its magic and softened the surface conditions. Ski Patrol dropped the rope on Drifter, Shuttle, Red Fox Glades, Jolly Rodger, Lower Pipeline, Full Nelson, Upper Exhibition, and Harvey’s this afternoon. Drifter is a favorite of mine when it comes to scenic trails, so I returned to Madonna this afternoon. I made sure to stop at all the usual spots to soak up the amazing views. Tomorrow, we plan to have all 8 lifts operating. We have 43 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 36 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Thomke’s, Log Jam, Smugglers’ Alley, Snow Snake, Drifter, and skier’s right on Upper FIS for a total of 139 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable, with average base depths of 8 to 34 inches. Currently, it is sunny and 32 degrees at the summit of Sterling, with winds of 5 to 15 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies becoming mostly sunny and breezy, with a high of 39 degrees at the base and 31 degrees at higher elevations.
