We received 4 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, 7 inches in the past 48 hours, and 23 inches in the past 5 days. Ski Patrol was busy today dropping ropes on Ruthie’s, Goat Path, Gary B’s, Dan’s Ford, the lower half of Playground, and Father Bob’s from Goat to Link. I found some wonderful powder turns on many of these newly opened trails today. Tomorrow, we plan to have 5 lifts operating: Mogul Mouse’s Magic, Sterling, Village, Madonna II, and Sir Henry’s Glider. We now have 32 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 10 to 40 inches. 18 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Black Snake, Midway, Lower Chilcoot, Smugglers’ Alley, and Magic Learning Trail, for a total of 118 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Snowmaking operations will move to Lower Rumrunner tomorrow, and it will be closed for the day. We are also presently making snow on Birch Run. Currently, it is cloudy and -3 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, breezy, with a high of 13 degrees at the base and 10 degrees at higher elevations. There is a Winter Storm Advisory for Monday night and Tuesday, with up to 10 inches of new snow is possible.
