Calm Before the Storm

3 Mountain Logo

We received 3 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 21 inches in the past week. I took Snake Bite on my first run of the day, and it was groomed to perfection! The wind had moved the new snow around a bit last night. The snow blew into Doc Dempsey’s nicely and filled in between the bumps. Speaking of snow, there is more on the way. A Winter Weather Advisory is starting now and going through tomorrow morning, with 3 to 7 inches of new snow possible. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies and a chance of a snow shower. It is windy, with a high of 16 degrees at the base and 11 degrees at higher elevations. Weather permitting, tomorrow we plan to have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 75 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 31 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including skiers right on Upper FIS, Snow Snake, Thomke’s, Smugglers’ Alley, and Sam’s Run, for a total of 169 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 14 to 44 inches. The feature photo is of the summit of Madonna Mountain, which was taken this afternoon. The trail is Upper Drifter.
