Clear and cool

3 Mountain Logo

The day started cloudy and then the sun decided to come out. The views were just plain spectacular today. I made my way up Madonna and stopped by a few of my favorite scenic spots. I love the contrast of the snow and rime ice-covered trees at the summit of Madonna against the bright outer space blue sky. Tomorrow we plan to have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna 1 Lift. We have 64 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 27 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Drifter, Magic Learning Trail, Smugglers’ Alley, Thomke’s, and Upper FIS for a total of 137 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 12 to 42 inches. We are presently making snow on Log Jam and the base area of Morse Highlands. The Highlands Lift is presently closed due to snowmaking operations. Currently, it is -3 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies, a slight chance of a snow shower later in the day, with a high of 9 degrees at the base and 2 degrees at higher elevations. Wear an extra layer, grab some hand warmers, and enjoy the beautiful snow!

I like to call this spot the perch. You feel like a bird sitting on a branch up high just waiting to take flight.
