Well, we received quite a variety of weather conditions in the past 24 hours. Last night started with snow and sleet an inch of accumulation. Then the freezing rain and rain moved in along with thunderstorms and high winds. The freezing rain, rain, and high winds continued through the morning. The winds decreased in the afternoon and we were able to get the Sterling Lift open at 1 pm. The temperature rose this afternoon making for some nice spring conditions. Smugglers’ Alley and Snake Bite were my favorites today. Currently, it is cloudy and 48 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for partly sunny skies, breezy with a high of 42 degrees at the base and 36 degrees at higher elevations. We plan to have the Sterling Lift and Madonna 2 Lift operating tomorrow. We need to do some patchwork on Upper Madonna and we hope to have it open for Closing Weekend April 12th and 13th. We will have 16 trails open tomorrow with terrain for experts and intermediates only. All 16 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, that’s a total of 79 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 10 to 46 inches.
Pond Skim is this Saturday, April 5th! We have moved the time ahead an hour, there is a chance of some rain in the afternoon on Saturday and we don’t want you to get wet!
