Pond Skim Eve

3 Mountain Logo

Are you ready for the big event? Our annual Pond Skim is tomorrow Saturday, April 5th presented by Zero Gravity. This year there are 2 ponds, banked turns, and a few more features thrown in there for good measure. Our Mountain Operations crew has outdone themselves once again! This is a must-see, must-do, or must-see-do event! Free registration starts at 9:30 am in Parking Lot #1 at the Smugglers’ Notch tent. Early bird gets to skim, registration is limited to the first 100 participants. We plan to start skimming at 11:00 am. Don’t forget fashion because prizes will be awarded for the best costume! Tomorrow we plan to have the Sterling Lift and Madonna 2 Lift operating. We have 16 trails open with terrain for intermediates and experts only. All 16 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, that’s a total of 79 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 10 to 48 inches. Currently, it is sunny and 35 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for snow, sleet, and rain, windy with a high of 38 degrees at the base and 33 degrees at higher elevations. Winds will increase in the afternoon.
