At the end of the day when the lifts have stopped and the slopes are clear, our snowcats hit the hill. They work all night long to provide the best snow surfaces possible for our skiing and riding pleasure. It takes two shifts of groomers to cover all three mountains. Last night they tackled many natural snow trails like Jolly Rodger, Drifter, Thomke’s, Lower Pipeline, and Ruthie’s. On top of that they groomed 34 snowmaking trails for a total of 199 acres of corduroy goodness. We greatly appreciate all your hard work and thanks again! Today we plan to have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating. We have 49 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 12 to 50 inches. Currently, it is partly cloudy and 11 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 15 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies early increasing clouds, snow showers later 1 to 2 inches of accumulation possible with a high of 28 degrees at the base and 23 degrees at higher elevations. There is more snow in the forecast for tonight with another 2 to 4 inches.
