Snowshoe Adventures:
Explore the pristine beauty of Vermont’s winter landscapes with our guided snowshoe treks. These adventures are perfect for all skill levels and offer unique ways to connect with nature. Our guided snowshoe treks offer unique opportunities to explore Vermont’s stunning landscapes while creating lasting memories. With rentals available for all ages, the whole family can join in the fun. Here are some of our most popular snowshoe treks:
- Winter Survival: Gain essential winter survival skills on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. This 90-minute trek teaches tips and techniques for thriving in winter conditions. Designed for ages 10 & older, it’s available at $35 per person.
- Smuggs Brewshoes: Embark on a self-guided snowshoe scavenger hunt from the Nordic Center to Lot Six Brewing, uncovering hidden beer coupons and surprises along the scenic winter trail! Available on Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm for guests 21 & older, priced at $25 per person.
- Family Snowshoe Scavenger Hunt: Enjoy a self-guided, family-friendly adventure by strapping on snowshoes, following our clues, and exploring our beautiful trails. Offered on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm for ages 4 & older, at $15 per person.
- S’mores Snowshoe Party: Snowshoe through scenic winter trails to the cozy Nordic Pavilion for a family-friendly adventure of s’mores around a warm fire in a beautiful woodland setting! Held on Tuesdays from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm for ages 8 & older, at $15 per person.
- Moonlight Mile: A serene evening adventure where participants cross-country ski or snowshoe along a torch-lit woodland trail to the cozy McGovern Lodge. This peaceful experience is available on Fridays from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for guests ages 10 & older. The cost is $10 per person, with an additional $10 for rental equipment. Perfect for families, friends, or couples
Relaxing Experiences:
Private Sauna Rental: After an exhilarating day of snowshoeing, unwind in our private sauna. Located at McGovern’s Lodge, the sauna offers a tranquil setting to relax and rejuvenate. Reservations are required to ensure your exclusive access: 16 & older, $70 per hour for up to six people.
Additional Non-Skiing Winter Activities:
- Daytime Tubing: Experience the thrill of tube sliding the old-fashioned way! We provide the tubes; you provide the fun. Riders must be at least 36″ tall and able to ride independently. Available on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the North Hill Tubing area. Included with SmuggsPass or Daycation.
- Ice Skating: Lace up your skates and glide across our outdoor ice rink, enjoying the crisp winter air and scenic surroundings. Skate rentals are available for all ages and are included with SmuggsPass or Daycation. Weather dependent.
- Winter Walking Program: Explore the beauty of Smugglers’ winter landscape with our easy-going Winter Walking Program. Guided walks are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:30 am – 12:00 noon, starting from the Yurt by Courtside Pool. Suitable for ages 12 & older. Included with SmuggsPass or Daycation.

- Presented by Monster, this event takes place at Birch Run Terrain Park on Sterling Mountain. Free entry. Open to participants aged 13 & older.
- January 18, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Smugglers’ Notch Distillery Tastings
- Another opportunity to sample craft spirits at the Guest Service Desk.

Mountain Report:
As of January 17, 2025, Smugglers’ Notch Resort reports 56 out of 78 trails open, with 25 groomed and 5 out of 8 lifts operating. The forecast anticipates snow on January 18 and 19. Holiday Weekend Tips:
Welcome to Smuggs, and thank you for joining us for this exciting holiday weekend! To help everyone enjoy their time here, we recommend leaving your vehicle parked to ease traffic. Our convenient on-demand shuttle service is here to take you around the Village or directly to the upper mountains with express service, just call 802.644.1010. If you’re heading to the upper mountains, consider taking the scenic Midway trail to Madonna and Sterling and returning on the Meadowlark trail back to the Village. Let us handle the driving so you can focus on the fun! Have a fantastic vacation!
For locals joining us, we kindly suggest carpooling whenever possible to help reduce congestion and make parking more manageable for everyone.
