Winter weather returns tomorrow night

3 Mountain Logo

Today started cloudy and dry, but the rain moved around 10 am. The rain will continue tonight. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for rain becoming snow late in the day on top half an inch of accumulation possible with a high of 44 degrees at the base and 41 degrees at higher elevations. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day. Due to the warm overnight temperatures and rain there will be limited grooming on Madonna Mountain and Sterling Mountain tonight. Please check the report in the morning for the most up-to-date information. We plan to groom 13 trails on Morse Mountain tonight for a total of 70 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 12 to 50 inches. Our trail count may drop in the next couple of days, but that is not because of a lack of snow. Our snowpack is deep and will be able to absorb the rain that we receive. The cold air that arrives on Thursday night will allow the snowpack to set up again. We will then begin extensive grooming operations to get as much terrain open for Friday and the weekend. We could also see 1 to 3 inches of new snow on Thursday night.

Uphill travel will be closed on Sterling Mountain Thursday night and Friday morning due to grooming operations.
